ART IN NEW YORK CITY
New York is a city in the state of the same name, and is the most populous center in the whole country. Located on the edge of one of the largest harbors in the world, New York is made up of five "boroughs" which were consolidated into one city in 1898, more than 250 years after the area was originally settled. These sub-sections are Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island.
New York has a great number of world famous landmarks, most notably the Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building. The city is also known for housing the "crossroads of the world", better known as Times Square, and for bringing a great array of Broadway theatre shows to the community. Additionally, the Bronx Zoo is the largest city zoo in the world, and Central Park boasts the most visits of any park in the country.
